Dr. Sharica Brookins understands the importance of nutrition in kidney health management. Dr. Brookins is a board-certified Nephrologist licensed in Georgia. She studied Exercise Science & Nutrition at Florida State University followed by graduating from Meharry Medical College with a Doctorate of Medicine. She went on to complete her Internal Medicine residency at UF Health Jacksonville with recognition as American College of Physicians UF-Jax Resident of the Year. She accomplished her Nephrology fellowship at Vanderbilt University with senior research in APOL1 testing & Kidney Transplantation.
She has experience with CKD nutrition, kidney transplantation, & end-stage kidney disease dialysis care. She served as a Medical Director of an outpatient hemodialysis center, and Managing Nephrologist in a home dialysis center (hemodialysis & peritoneal dialysis). She is devoted to community service by educating and empowering others about nutrition, transplantation, and health disparities.
Dr. Brookins is a mother of 2, published author in medical journals and digital media, and public speaker. She is a dedicated member of American Society of Nephrology; The Gold Humanism Honor Society; Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated; The Links, Incorporated; Board member of Augusta Locally Grown; Board member of The Family YMCA Camp Lakeside; and Board member of Smith Bios Group.
