Dr. Sharica Brookins understands the importance of nutrition in kidney health management. Dr. Brookins is a board-certified Nephrologist licensed in Georgia. She studied Exercise Science & Nutrition at Florida State University, followed by graduating from Meharry Medical College with a Doctorate of Medicine.
She went on to complete her Internal Medicine residency at UF Health Jacksonville with recognition as American College of Physicians UF-Jax Resident of the Year. Â She accomplished her Nephrology fellowship at Vanderbilt University with senior research in APOL1 testing & Kidney Transplantation.

Monitoring equipment is mailed directly to patients and is covered by most insurance providers, with daily readings sent electronically to the physician for ongoing evaluation and care adjustments.
Lab orders for blood and urine testing are sent directly to your nearest lab, while imaging orders (including ultrasound, X-ray, CT scan, and MRI) are coordinated with a local imaging center.

After scheduling, we can help send a lab order to your lab of choice. This will be done a few days prior to your first appointment. You may also get lab results sent from other provider's office.
A link for your telehealth visit will be sent by text and email. You may use a smartphone, computer or tablet for your virtual visit. No apps or special equipment needed. You will be able. to check your blood pressure and weight at home.
After your virtual visit, you will be provided the next steps, based on your treatment plan. We have both physician and staff members available 24/7 for continued care and communication. Call directly for any immediate concerns.
Video visits allow patients to diagnose, treat, and manage kidney disease from the comfort of home using a smartphone, computer, or tablet. No apps are required, and a secure telehealth link is conveniently sent by text and email prior to the appointment.
